If your treadmill does not have this function, there are a lot of iPod apps that allow you to select a route or running course that you can use for your treadmill workouts. Some applications even use the Google Earth technology that enables you to choose actual running courses from different parts of the world. For example, you can simply choose to run at the Boston Marathon, Scarborough Beach or Abbey Road by using these great apps. The applications are intelligent enough to tell you when to change your incline settings and speed to match the terrain of a specific course.









Would I also gain the same benefit if I use a low-impact machine like a Transport or Cross-Trainer? I had injured my ankle back when I was still a member of a varsity team, and it can be quite painful jogging on the treadmill.
